Poster Presentation

The Poster Session is one of the most important components of the scientific program of the OBI – Biomaterials and Artificial Organs | UNIARA. In addition to providing an opportunity to disseminate research findings, this session encourages direct interaction among authors, researchers, students, and professionals, fostering scientific discussion, the exchange of knowledge, and the development of new collaborations. The active participation of the presenting authors is essential to enrich scientific debate and contribute to the success of the event.

Poster Presentation Guidelines

To ensure the smooth organization of the Poster Session, please carefully observe the following guidelines:

• >Posters must be prepared in English using the official event template, which is available for download at the bottom of this page.
• Posters must be mounted at the beginning of the morning program on the day assigned for presentation and must remain on display throughout the entire day.
• Each poster board will be clearly identified with the corresponding Abstract ID, as assigned by the Scientific Committee.
• Posters will be displayed using hanging poster boards. Therefore, authors are strongly encouraged to prepare their posters in a format compatible with this type of display to facilitate installation and removal.
• Posters will remain available for viewing throughout the day, allowing participants to visit the exhibition during breaks and throughout the scientific program.
• The presenting author must be available at the assigned poster during the official Poster Session, scheduled from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, to discuss the work with participants and members of the Scientific Committee.
• Abstracts competing for the Student Award will be evaluated during the Poster Session. Failure of the presenting author to be present during the scheduled evaluation period will result in automatic disqualification from the award competition.
• Posters must be removed by their authors immediately after the conclusion of the Poster Session. The Organizing Committee cannot assume responsibility for posters or materials left on display after the session has ended.

OBI Scientific Excellence Award

The OBI Scientific Excellence Award recognizes the most outstanding scientific contributions presented during the OBI – Biomaterials and Artificial Organs | UNIARA. The award aims to encourage scientific excellence, innovation, methodological rigor, and the dissemination of high-quality research conducted by undergraduate and graduate students.

Participation in the award is voluntary and available to authors who selected this option during abstract submission.

Evaluation Process

The OBI Scientific Excellence Award is based on a comprehensive, multi-stage evaluation process designed to recognize research of exceptional scientific quality.

The final score is determined by three complementary stages:

Stage 1 – Submitted Abstract

The submitted abstract is evaluated according to the following criteria:

• Scientific originality and innovation;
• Relevance to the scope of the event;
• Methodological consistency;
• Quality of results and conclusions;
• Clarity, organization, and scientific writing.

Stage 2 – Extended Abstract

Authors participating in the award must submit an Extended Abstract, which enables a more comprehensive assessment of the scientific work.

The evaluation considers:

• Scientific background and literature review;
• Relevance of the research question;
• Clarity of objectives;
• Experimental design;
• Methodological rigor;
• Statistical analysis (when applicable);
• Quality and presentation of results;
• Scientific discussion;
• Conclusions supported by the presented data;
• Overall scientific contribution and impact.

Stage 3 – Poster Presentation

During the official Poster Session, members of the Scientific Committee will evaluate both the scientific content and the oral presentation of the work.

The following aspects will be considered:

• Organization and visual quality of the poster;
• Clarity and effectiveness of the presentation;
• Scientific knowledge demonstrated by the presenter;
• Understanding of the methodology;
• Interpretation of results;
• Ability to answer scientific questions;
• Critical thinking and scientific maturity.

The presenting author must be present during the official Poster Session at the scheduled evaluation time. Failure to attend the assigned evaluation period will result in automatic disqualification from the OBI Scientific Excellence Award.

Evaluation Principles

To ensure fairness, transparency, and consistency, the Scientific Committee adopts the following principles:

• All submissions are evaluated using standardized evaluation forms.
• Each work is independently assessed by members of the Scientific Committee with expertise in the corresponding research area.
• Scientific merit is the primary criterion throughout the evaluation process.
• Reviewers with any potential conflict of interest do not participate in the evaluation of the corresponding work.
• When necessary, additional reviewers may be appointed to ensure consistency in the evaluation process.

The decisions of the Scientific Committee regarding the OBI Scientific Excellence Award are final.

Evaluation Criteria

The official evaluation forms are made available to all participants to ensure complete transparency throughout the review process.

The assessment encompasses scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, quality of the presentation, scientific discussion, and the overall contribution of the research to the advancement of knowledge in biomaterials, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, artificial organs, biomedical devices, and related fields.
