The Professional Master`s Degree in Teaching Processes, Management, and Innovation, recommended by CAPES, is strongly linked to the Pedagogy course, but also to other undergraduate degrees and even to interested parties from other courses that, at first glance, would not be so closely linked to education.
The Pedagogy course at University of Araraquara - Uniara was created in the early 1970s, as already stated by the creation of the Faculty of Education. In a short period of time - from 2001 to 2006 - it was transformed into a Higher Education Normal Course, training exclusively teachers for the initial grades of elementary school. Analyzed by technicians from the National Institute of Pedagogical Studies and Research (INEP), who approved it, it received the highest score from the Ministry of Education and Culture for its proposal and working conditions. Since 2007, with legal restrictions on the existence of this type of course, Uniara has decided to, once again, offer the Pedagogy course, lasting four years and offering more differentiated training opportunities. Over the last three decades, the area of education has been strengthened with other degrees and courses in other modalities after graduation.
Currently, the Pedagogy course provides training for teachers in Early Childhood Education; for the initial years of Elementary School; for high school courses, Normal mode (this mode still exists in some regions of the country); for Professional Education in school services and support and for other jobs for which pedagogical knowledge is required, always in accordance with current legislation. It has a qualified faculty consisting of masters and doctors and has been increasingly improving the training offered to its more than 200 students. In addition to regular activities, it offers students Extension and Scientific Initiation projects with the CNPq PIBIC Scholarship Program, or without financial aid, having institutionalized the Scientific Initiation Coordination since 1999. In the teaching sphere, in 2003, the Integrated Center for Studies and Research of Uniara was created, signifying the milestone of the institutionalization of scientific research by the institution, who had already been working in this sphere, previously, in almost all undergraduate courses. With this measure, the institutional conditions for research by the faculty were established, in addition to the creation of a Research Committee that, after mapping the potential, verified the possibilities for creating work groups. From that time on, 3 master`s programs were created, all with an emphasis on the regional dimension. Thus, in recent years, groups of research professors were created in education in two axes, namely: Educational Management and Teaching Processes. Both groups have been carrying out regular activities for some time, with projects involving researchers from other institutions in a healthy and fruitful exchange and production, as will be discussed later. Evidently, such measures, over the years, have created the institutional climate to achieve the goal of creating stricto sensu graduate courses, as has occurred in other areas.
